Abstract

Alan Maynard is Professor of Health Economics in the Department of

Health Sciences and the Hull York Medical School, University of York,

England. He is the Founding Editor of the journal /Health Economics. Maynard has written some the seminal work on health systems and how to reform them. His major concern is about the efficiency and quality of health care. He has been involved in the UK National Healath Service management for 25 years and has been Chair of York Foundation Trust Hospitals since 1997. He has worked as a consultant for the WHO, theWorld Bank and other organisations in over 20 countries.
