Health payment and reimbursement research in health reform and development

The undergoing health reform in China poses new requirements and provides opportunity for the research on medical payment and reimbursement. The current hospital payment and reimbursement methods are no longer suitable for the management of modern hospitals. In the newly released draft health reform plan, the China Government has defined medical payment research as a priority area. In order to understand the latest progress and important experiences in other parts of the world, China Health Economics Association will organize a session titled as “Medical payment and reimbursement research in health reform and development”. This session will invite experts and scholars from Australia, Germany, and Taiwan, to exchange ideas and experiences of payment and reimbursement research with Chinese scholars, so as to contribute to the current health reform in China and international research and policy agendas.

Richard Madden: Classification of diseases and health interventions. He'll try to introduce the international efforts made for developing classification of diseases and health interventions.

Frank Heimig: Introduction of a DRG-system for German hospitals, 2001-2009. He'll introduce the exerpeinces gained in introducing a DRG system to German hospitals.

Zhang Zhenzhong: China Health Development and Health Payment Reform. He'll introduce the China health payment reform against the general back ground of the undergoing health system reform.
